Land, irrigated (hieroglyph) : ウィキペディア英語版 | Land, irrigated (hieroglyph)
The Irrigated land (hieroglyph), or "''Sectioned land (hieroglyph)''" is Gardiner's sign listed no. N24, in the series of ''sky, land, water, etc.'' It is used in the Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic language for ''sp3t'', a word meaning "district" or "nomos" (the nomes of Ancient Egypt).〔Betrò, 1995. ''Hieroglyphics: The Writings of Ancient Egypt,'' p.157.〕 It is a determinative in the name of provinces and regions in the noun ''ḥsp'', for "garden", "vegetable garden", and "orchard".〔Betrò, 1995, 157.〕 The ''"irrigated land hieroglyph"'' (or sectioned) is used especially in the 24th to 23rd century BC Palermo Stone, in reference to Nile River flood levels. About half of the river-level records contain a small version of the hieroglyph (see photo).
